U.S. Entrepreneurship Certification Examination

Credentials for the Innovation & Gig Economy

The customized U.S. Entrepreneurship Certification Examination credential is aligned with industry standards, serving as a baseline assessment of foundational entrepreneurship knowledge, skills, and mindsets required to successfully start a business. The examination questions were reviewed and revised by subject matter experts, including industry leaders at America’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and SCORE. Both industry leaders offer free or low cost advising, mentoring, webinars, resources, guest speakers, and networking as next steps for individuals interested in growing a business.

Field-tested in high schools and adult education programs nationwide, the standardized certification Examination is aligned and cross-walked with the National Content Standards for Entrepreneurship Education, Career & Technical Education (CTE) entrepreneurship competencies, and two online entrepreneurship certificate tests administered by My Own Business Institute (MOBI) in Silicon Valley, California.  Upon passing the U.S. Entrepreneurship Certification Examination, high school students and adult learners are prepared to earn two optional MOBI entrepreneurship certificates and digital badges with no additional preparation and no additional cost for a total of three stackable entrepreneurship credentials.

Examination preparation resources include a detailed Study Guide (28 pages) and two Practice Exams (118 questions each) -- one written on a High School, HSE/GED, and IET literacy level and one written on an ABE/ESL literacy level. High school students and adult learners not enrolled in entrepreneurship courses or Bridge/IET programs may also use the Study Guide and Practice Exams to fully self-prepare for the Examination.

These value-added entrepreneurship resources and credentials are important in developing the workforce readiness skills and entrepreneurial mindsets required by today’s employers in the Innovation & Gig Economy while simultaneously equipping individuals with self-employment options for the future.
